Gagne and Forsberg Update

February 11th, 2008 by James

Simon Gagne left yesterday’s game and at the time it was describe that he was not feeling well. The first thing that comes to mind is another concussion. That is indeed what he has, a mild concussion. The Flyers website says he is to be re-evaluated today.

On Saturday afternoon, it sounded like Peter Forsberg was very close to return to Philadelphia. Flyers GM Paul Holmgren, via a press conference, is saying that Forsberg needs more time to decide what he wants to do. Holmgren goes as far to say that he is “not convinced he (Forsberg) is returning to the NHL.” Is Holmgren trying to downplay what everyone else is thinking, that the Flyers are a lock to sign Forsberg? With Gagne’s future at this point uncertain and the team playing very inconsistenly, Forsberg could be a huge addition in the last two months of the regular season.
