With aquisition of Jaroslav Modry from the Kings yesterday, the Flyers became a little stacked on defense. The odd man out was Jim Vandermeer, who the Flyers have traded to the Calgary Flames in exchange for a draft pick.
At first I was excited to see Vandermeer return to Philadelphia. During is first stint he seemed like a good, hard hitting, stay at home defenseman. However this time around he was Captain Turnover. His decision to try and pick a fight with Josh Gorges of Montreal on Sunday, while admirable because it was in defense of a teammate, was stupid because it was not the right time to do so. He was taken out of the play which resulted in a Montreal goal. I was hoping for better things from Vandermeer.
