Flyers Lose Again, Roenick Returns to Philadelphia

February 21st, 2008 by James

The Flyers are now 0-8-1 in their last night games. I don’t have much to talk about the game. The Flyers played very uninspired hockey. I can take losses and the occasional slump, but it drives me insane to see athletes, no matter the sport, just going through the motions. The Flyers let the Sharks dominate this game. A win was within reach at the start of the 3rd period, but a quick goal by the Sharks deflated this team. All of us there knew the game was over at that point.

On a brighter note, playing the Sharks meant former Flyer and still Fan Favorite Jeremy Roenick was in town. During warmups, the crowd would cheer every time he would skate by. Several times he acknowledged the crowd as well as flipped several pucks to children in the crowd. As warmups ended and he skated to the tunel and stopped and waived to a cheering crowd again.

Prior to the start of the game, the Flyers made a presentation to Roenick in celebration of his 500th career goal, which he scored earlier in the season. He was given a standing ovation.
