For those true hockey fans out there reading this, that title is a no brainer. But as I sit here and am forced to watch the Flyers play the Rangers on NBC, I have to vent. The NHL on NBC is a joke. A 12:30 start time? What is with that? The commentators are downright awful. I think I would rather have a root canal done than listen to one more minute of Mike “Doc” Emerik’s nasally, high pitched squeal. Some say he is the best play-by-play man in the NHL. If he is, why can’t he learn something basic, like how players pronounce their names.
Gary Bettman and the NHL execs are so damned concerned about gaining the interest in the casual sports fan or someone who is just channel surfing, that they have these idiots spouting off basics about the game instead of giving true in-depth play-by-play. I don’t need to know what positions in the standings make the playoffs. If someone is truly interested in the game, they will learn it. It is an insult to every true hockey fan to have to hear these twits drone on about what “stars” just came over the boards for their shift. Congrats on alienating those with any kind of intelligence.

It is embarrassing for the entire hockey fans, the NHL, and NBC, This headline says it all, but the article dives in and rips apart the NHL and NBC both for this terrible partnership.
Commentary could potentially be the worst among all professional sports that are broadcast; the start times are ridiculous; and the list goes on.
Just like hibachi mentioned over at http://yardbarker.com/nhl/articles/The_NHL_on_NBC_is_TERRIBLE_No_kidding/213338 broadcasting a marathon over an NHL game is horrific! How does the NHL allow this in their partnership? Maybe none of us are aware that a marathon is like NASCAR (sorry NASCAR fans), and pulls in ridiculous viewership and ratings??
