During his commentary between periods of Sunday’s Flyers - Capitals game, NBC “analyst” Mike Milbury had a slip of the tongue and called the Washington Capitals, the “Washington Craps.” Or at least he says it was a slip of the tongue. To further dig himself a hole, instead of moving on, he brought further attention to his faux pas, by laughing and joking with fellow analyst Pierre McGuire saying that the Capitals were in fact playing like the “Washington Crapitals.”
On his blog, Washington owner Ted Leonsis wrote that he spoke to Milbury and that he apologized for what he said and that it was a slip of the tongue.
He formally apologized to me and he wanted me to convey his apology to our community. He is respectful of our team, our fan base and what we have done of late with the team… He was sincere in his apology.
I have accepted his apology and believe we should all move on.
How does Mike Milbury continue to find paying work? You would think after his time with the Islanders, people would realize he has no ability to analyze hockey.
For those of you who were not forced to sit through another NBC broadcast this weekend here is how it went down.
