This evening the Flyers sent center RJ Umberger as well as the 119th pick overall to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for the 19th and 67th picks in this year’s draft.
Rumors have been swirling that the Flyers were able to sign Jeff Carter to a 3 year deal at about $5 million a year. The Flyers still have yet to confirm this. If true, that would leave very little under the cap to sign Umberger as well.
This past season, Umberger had 13 goals and 37 assists and followed that up with 10 goals and 5 assists in 17 playoff games.
As of this point, the 19th pick has yet to be made, so it still remains to be seen who the Flyers will get for Umberger.
