2008 November 26

Well, the annual high school student council popularity contest NHL All-Star Game voting is in full swing. It is most noticeable with the ballot box stuffing results that are coming out of Montreal. Right now all six starting positions for the Eastern Conference are being led by Montreal Canadiens, by a 100,000 vote, or more, lead each.

On the Flyers side, Mike Richards, Simon Gagne, and Jeff Carter are all having All-Star caliber seasons.

Going into tonight’s game, Gagne has 11 goals and 16 assists for 27 points and is a +12. He is second in the league in points and is on pace for a 115 point season. Richards has 6 goals and 16 assist for 22 points and is a +12. He is on pace for a 90 point season. Carter has 15 goals and 4 assists for 19 points on the season. He is tied for first in the league in goals and is on pace for a 61 goal season. The Flyers record for goals in a season is 61 set by Reggie Leach in 75-76.

These three are playing better than Saku Koivu, Alex Tanguay, and Alexei Kovalev who are the three Montreal Canadiens leading in the voting for the forward positions. Let’s go Flyers Fans, make sure you vote often here. Check out here for the campaign to write in Jeff Carter.

I am so ticked off because I keep voting, but it does not seem to make a difference. It looks like the NHL has already decided who they want as all stars, even though the players that they put at the to do not even deserve it.
